The turning point of history
The cross of Christ revealed the very heart of God
The searing pain before him
The crushing isolation
Were vivid in his mind
The day before he bore it

As the hour of his suffering relentlessly drew near
He carefully prepared one last supper for his friends
Pouring the wine, breaking the bread
So we now share at the table of our Lord

And we do this in remembrance
Of the night he was betrayed
We do this in the knowledge
Of the dreadful price he paid
We will take the cup with our hearts full of love
For the Lamb who once was slain
We will break the bread, longing for the day
When our Christ will return again
