Arise, Shine Rwanda DVD’was filmed in May 2005, and tells the heart-warming story about the making of a childrens worship album in Rwanda in 2003, and the impact this experience has made on the lives of the 60 children who sang these songs on healing, forgiveness and hope for the future.
Born into a nation torn apart by genocide, these children, drawn from both main ethnic groups (hutu and tutsi), grew up knowing tragedy, sorrow and bitterness. Yet something happened during these weeks of fun and games, singing, recording and concert performances; prayers were prayed and new friendships were made across enormous social and tribal divides.
A day in the life of two Rwandan children ...
We follow the daily lives of two 10 year old girls in particular; Pauline, a hutu orphan from a poor background, and Jovanis, a tutsi girl from a professional, middle-class family. We asked them to tell us if they think Rwanda can be different in the future ...and talk to some parents to see if they agree!
